The Bushmaster ACR Project

9/17/2011:
After quite a bit of research, I elected to purchase a Bushmaster Basic ACR Rifle in black.  I found one in an Online offering from a shop in Michigan that had already had the firing pin upgrade and came with MagPul sights and three P-mags.  The price was extremely attractive as well as it was not being sold under the new Bushmaster MSRP pricing that put these ACR's well north of $2k.  This article will outline what I have done with the rifle with regard to enhancements or modifications.

Here is the ACR as received in August 2011:

Initial impression was favorable, but I noted that the rifle was extremely nose heavy and the right side selector was poorly shaped and uncomfortable when in the fire position.  The MagPul sights are not my favorites and will be the first thing to be replaced.  I'm leaning towards Troy folders at this time.

More to come...

9/25/11
Pulled off the Magpulls and installed Troy Folding sights.  All the difference in the world with the Excellent Troy Sights .  I went with the HK profile front sight and the A1 rear sight.

Now to reduce the barrel weight.....

Late featured Inland M1 Carbine. All correct and in excellent condition.  My son has claimed this rifle as his own after banging the steel gong at 189 yards during his first time using the M1 Carbine.  Shooting conditions were late afternoon with a gentle breeze, Iron sights set at 200 yards, Lake City Military Surplus Ball ammo.   Not too shabby for an 8-year old.

Springfield Armory M1A.  Been a long wait for this one, but I'm  very, very pleased with it.  Very accurate rifle.

DPMS SBR-Registered lower with RRA 7" 9mm Upper.  Very quick handling carbine and seriously fun to shoot.  This lower is on a Form-4 and is NOT for sale.

Norinco 56S Rifle.  Pre-Ban import in excellent condition with all accessories.  Excellent find after many years of looking for one to match my AK-47S down-folder.
