Belgian M1889 Infantry Rifle
This is a standard Belgian M1889 Infantry rifle in 7.65mm. This was one of the rifles manufactured under contract by Hopkins & Allen in Norwich, CT. This contract pretty much unraveled when Germany invaded Belgium during WWI and was never completed and eventually led to the financial demise of Hopkins & Allen in 1916.
Interestingly, this rifle was a war trophy coming home after WWII with a US Serviceman, duffle cut ahead of the rear band.
Overall rifle is in NRA Fair condition with a VG Bore. Finish has some stippling present and the duffle cut, while adding to the uniqueness, does detract from value.
